As indigenous people mainly from Long Island and with impact stretching northwards slightly into the southern New England, the Mohegan-Montauk-Narragansett people groups share their historical roots with the Brothertown Indian Nation since the 1700s. This three-in-one tribe primarily speak both the Mohegan-Pequot language and English, revealing their ability to assimilate into American society.
The Mohegan-Montauk-Narragansett tribe are credited for developing communities during the nineteenth century. With those who migrated West, a significant number of ancestors developed present-day Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Unlike some tribes, the Mohegan-Montauk-Narragansett tribe gradually accepted Western development while also preserving their identity as an indigenous people group in the process.
The Mohegan-Montauk-Narragansett people group are known for communicating effectively with opposing tribes, thus their alliances have been built effectively and extensively. Even Christian communities of this tribe have played a historical significance in the development of multiple communities within New York and Wisconsin.
The Mohegan-Montauk-Narragansett tribes have an effective amount of linguistic contributions and cultural traditions/practices documented. Still, regarding the attempts to persevere the language through the help of exterior universities, this tribe struggles to preserve their history, culture, and religion on their own terms. As multiple tribes thrive on oral tradition, some non-oral methods are required in order to preserve the past now and into the future.
Pray that our Heavenly Father supplies his presence to help the Mohegan-Montauk-Narragansett recognize their need to accept Jesus Christ in their lives.
May tribespeople not only accept Jesus' free gift of salvation, but also may they restructure their communities as needed so discipleship easily becomes a component among new believers.
Pray for Mohegan-Montauk-Narragansett Christians to draw others to the only Savior by their love and good works.
